James Clear quoted graphic designer Saul Bass on the importance of beauty:
"I want everything we do to be beautiful. I don't give a damn whether the client understands that that's worth anything, or that the client thinks it's worth anything, or whether it is worth anything. It's worth it to me. It's the way I want to live my life. I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares."
I believe that beauty always adds something positive to the world. Even if it is not valued. Even if it goes unnoticed.
The contrary is destruction and decay. Destruction is active behavior and stems from some kind of pain. Decay derives from laziness to maintain and keep a beautiful status alive.
If we add a tiny bit of beauty to the world each day, someone will notice. The mere act already does something good to us.
