No help?

Accept that some people don’t want to be helped.

You watch them suffering. You see them struggling. And you have to accept that they are where they are and that they are not willing or able (yet) to go into a transformation.

What? No help?

Why would someone refuse help if it was beneficial for them?

Well, there can be many reasons.

One is that help means change.

Changing oneself.

Which is work.

Maybe even very hard work.

Which includes leaving your comfort zone and rolling up your sleeves.

The person might not be willing to take that step.

Maybe the benefits seem too far away and are not immediate. So no instant reward for the brain after taking that first step.

Maybe the individual needs to give up something nice and well-known from their past. Leave a habit behind.

Maybe they need to face an uncomfortable truth they are hiding from.

Whatever it is - you have to accept the stage and mindset they are in.

You can be there to support when they are ready for a change, but you cannot force them to change.
